An Esophagus Between the Brick Walls (Mature. Open)

Post by Aria on Mon Nov 21, 2016 6:28 pm

"Crippled vestigial ripples of ultraviolet radiation. Monopoly of cricket mating calls over noise traffic. Hmph. Degree of biodiversity inferred, yet not confirmed."

This was probably the most inert section of the constantly-mutating megalopolis, so seemingly distant of being condemned by entropy. None of the massive stone slabs that seemed to grow from the soil, spare a few, would dare to activate their odd photogenic flasks; those of an odd vitric composition and a rather curious, bulbous shape, yet filled with dangerous substances that could cause severe neural damage to any unfortunate inhalers. The fact such a deadly weapon would be flagged as a mere "commodity" in this world was... Nothing diminutive in baffling, yet perhaps understandable. As for the lights that were, indeed, present, they illuminated a path meant for biotic organisms to venture upon, as if they acted as miniaturized astral entities. Perhaps they functioned just as real stars - an omnipresent map to help those in true need of guidance, be it through frivolous spiritism or tangible geography. It, however, also had the potential to be straight path into the utter catastrophe of the cosmos - the star that wasn't so that no others could be.

Some sentient organism had to be bound to find out.
The sound of bare footsteps, still humbled by the concert of arthropods, began to resound faintly through the streets. Its source seemed to be looking for an object of interest - something that could provide information of this particular habitat's ecosystem.

    Suddenly, clustered smell.
A path, deprived from light, appeared between two of the massive petrous monoliths that plagued the region. A stench as dense as mercury reeked from the rash between both constructs. The stench was but an amalgamation of multiple other sources of fetid pleasure. Leftovers, health-care waste, hominid excrement (the one of a larva, at that), and...

    The rotting.

    Steaming.

    Ever-so-attractive smell...

    Of putrid flesh.

The girl sank into the pitch-dark womb, its fetus apparently rich and strong in its most important respect.

    Raw data.

An intense noise of rustling garbage bags soon ensued.
Despite the lack of any form of illumination inside the allleyway, the organism knew what it had to look for. She knew it was there.
The blade to sever the guts off the hounds of ignorance was withing her clutch.

Blood bathed, exhausted, Lexia's feet dragged across the floor, her hand raising to a water tap. Her leg shot with pain, and she grimaced as the water flowed from the tap, drenching her sticky hair. Dirt flowed from it, small pieces of bark and tiny leaves washing away from it. Her form was stiff, a long day out causing muscles to tense, ache, be stiffened from over use. Dirt, grime, dust, leaves, all were cleansed from her form as the water cascaded around her. She had limited time, and her hands moved quickly, before slender fingers would curl around the taps to shut them.

With a white towel, she dried herself before donning her clothing. Pushing out the shower door, Nithya would give a short bark. Lexia's hand fell, her hand ruffling his head. Disposing of the towel in a blue linen bin, or something. Lexia didn't really know what it was for. However, after returning to her room, almost like a slap in the face, she realised that she had no heaters. No way to dry her incredibly long hair. Which would take hours to dry naturally.

A sigh escaped her pale lips, her tongue clicking in annoyance. The gesture confused Nithya, as he linked it to a command which he knew. Looking left and right, his ears pricked to see if he could hear anything out of the ordinary. Sadly, the foenix found none, and he huffed a sigh, following Lexia as she went outside.

The chill in the air bit at her, the damp hair stiffening her back. She groaned slightly in annoyance as they passed by an alleyway.

It was then Nithya heard the noise which Lexia must have been talking about earlier. A scrunching of a bag! The wolf like being would turn, trotting down the alleyway, into the inky blackness. Lexia noticed the lack of her companion the second he began to walk away, a frown forming on her face. "Nithya, where are you going?" Lexia called out to him, before clicking her tongue for him to stop.

This really annoyed Nithya, and he whined, only a few meters away from the source of the noise. However, he refused to move, his ears pricked and head tilted as he listened for more sound. Lexia approached the seemingly mad animal, a frown on her face. Nithya wouldn't lead her down here unless he had heard something...

It looked like the hair dryer would have to wait.

"Hello, is anyone here?" Lexia called out to the 'empty' inky darkness.

Two creatures were acknowledged, yet their respective addressing processes were to be postponed.

The source of the reeking smell: Calico-patterned Maine Coon.
Post-tactful inspection report: Carrion-eating colony on left paw, larval tapeworm corpse inside the esophagus, three abnormal bulbs protruding from the head.

    *Crack*

    ---

The female organism had embraced herself for this.
She walked towards the alleyway's gaping maw, supported by her would-be patellar joints.
On one arm, she held the horrid carcass of a cat, result of its inevitable malnutrition. The corpse had a rather large hole in its cranium - its innards reflecting light as a mirror would.  She made a gesture with the other hand; all three of the shown fingers in a lubricated wine-red by the blood and cerebral juices of the creature.

    Spoiler:

"Three. Three different types of frontotemporal tumors. With a cellular reproduction sequence this chaotic, this lump of nutrients might as well not exist. I, however, stubbornly believe in repurposing. Here. I sincerely hope you can make-do with this - certainly more than I ever could."
Her tone of speech was unorthodoxly soft for such a gruesome topic.

Her arm gently dropped the former vessel of a condemned soul in front of her, proceeding to slowly push it in the girl's direction. The organism shifted her gaze towards the lady's rostrum, not catering to anything else with her eyes.

An ironed smell lingered faintly in the air, perceptible to those of heightened sense. It seemed to be... vestigial.

Soft footsteps would come from deep within the alley, Lexia taking a few steps back, unable to see through the inky darkness. The light from the street cascaded against her back but remained unable to pass more than ten more feet in front of Lex. Her foenix remained curious, its head tilted as it watched the darkness move, rising, turning, leaving the darkness which clothed it in protection.

"Three. Three different types of frontotemporal tumors. With a cellular reproduction sequence this chaotic, this lump of nutrients might as well not exist. I, however, stubbornly believe in repurposing. Here. I sincerely hope you can make-do with this - certainly more than I ever could."

The creature seemed pleased with itself, the voice so soft and cheerful for such a find. But the reaction was more than horrible inside Lexia's mind as it went to pass the decomposing cat to her. Her stomach flipped, her face paled, her throat clamping as her breath caught in her chest. How was she meant to react, the voice howling with laughter, its voice roaring in her mind. PERFECT! THAT IS WHAT YOU SHALL ALL BECOME! WRITHING IN A POOL OF BLOOD, YOUR OWN INNARDS! It screamed, laughing manically. Lexia's face paled, the voice shrieking to an incredible sound. If she hadn't been with someone, she would have screamed, collapse into a ball and grab her head, beg it to stop.

"Your offer is most kind, but where did you acquire a being in this state?" She said genuinely, not wanting to offend the slim creature, who seemed incredibly happy with itself. Even though its fingers dripped with crimson blood. Her thoughts idly wondered what she would do with the... rotting corpse... of... the... dead... cat...

KIND?!THE GIFT IS GLORIOUS! PRAISE THE BEING WHO GAVE YOU THE GLIMPSE TO YOUR FILTHY FUTURE! YOU PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR SENTIENT LIFE! The voice howled in her mind, laughing more sadistically with every passing second. Lexia stepped forward, a small smile on her face as her hands would take the dead animal from the being which offered it to her.

Lexia glanced down at the poorly looked after cat. What was she meant to do with that? Especially when it was dead? She glanced down at Nithya, who snorted and tossed his head. It was clear there and then that he didn't want a single thing to do with it.

"Hm. A pale face... Yet, a smile?...
Highest bet goes to dissociative identity disorder. Talent in impromptu acting is also a possibility", she thought.
The female hominid presented conflicting reactions. In spite of this, the bleach-white organism owed her some sapience.

"If I may, because I know I can - that decrepit feline can serve many purposes for someone of your kin. If incinerated completely, it may act as substance for organic compost - assuming the tapeworm I found in its esophagus didn't drain all of its remaining nutrients. Alternatively, you could use it as fuel inside a controlled environment for the culture of carrion-eating creatures. Neither of those purposes interest me, but they might as well interest you. 'What a singular hominid deems to be a stash of ferric scraps, another hominid of similar qualities may deem it to be of equal value to an extract of an auric composite', as they say. I... Think", she said, abandoning her kneeling stance in favor of an upright position, exhibiting her 1.803-millimeter-tall figure in complete transparency.

A quick glance at the cat. The carrion-eaters had started to crawl away from its paw, attempting to curl up inside its empty ocular sockets and hollow cranium.
She returned her gaze to the hominid - her familiar presented anomalous traits, but the cue for inquiries wasn't present.

The female organism allowed her right arm to rest upon her waist.
