    Bounty System

Post by sLy on Mon Dec 14, 2015 11:04 pm

    Greetings,

So I have done a lot of thought lately after the introduction of money and a marketplace, as well as missions offering to pay characters for completing them. A lot of characters here were also pretty infamous, incurring huge bounties for their supposed destruction on cities and total massacre on people that would take the superior Government centuries to recover. So it would make sense that these notorious characters should have bounties right?

So here’s how it works. Bounties are going to make things more interesting aside from the purpose of the site-wide plot and stuff. When characters incur bounties, other characters can openly challenge these characters and attempt to capture them and bring them before the Government, where they will get their reward and stuff. However, for the sake of newcomers and fairness, those who were challenged can refuse to RP the fight if their bounties are lower than the challenger. Only one challenge can be made towards a character. Generally, it’s first order first serve. If users do not wish to be challenged regardless, they can join a guild, be protected by it, and decide if they want to accept any challenges or not. Characters may need to meet minimum bounty requirements to join some guilds.

Characters that lost and brought before the Government can escape, or create a topic where peeps try and break this character free. Note, if the character chooses to escape without RPing it, their bounties would drop. If an RP was made where the characters broke free with the help of others, depending on how well the topic was made, the characters involved will either preserve their former bounty OR gain bounty. There would be a resting period where the challenged character cannot be challenged again for ~5days or so.

However, incurring a bounty also has some limitations. If the character is in a guild, they will have to pay for their upkeep, the % of this ‘tax’ is dependent on how high their bounties are. This upkeep includes their food, rent, power usage, training equipment, ammo, supplies, security, contribution to the guild itself etc. After all, nothing comes for free. Please refer to the description of each guild, as some may just tax your rewards, or request to pay up a set amount per week. Also note, these taxes will reduce the net reward from missions. This is so stronger characters go for harder missions and not hog up all the easy missions for newcomers.

It is also important to note that bounties are not a reflection of strength (the Government doesn’t care about that), but how badly the Government wants that character to be put down or so.

    Starting Bounty

Starting bounty is the bounty given to characters upon approval of their characters. Only the staff are permitted to give bounties. Maximum starting bounty is $60,000, and the determining factors for your characters’ bounties are based on how much of a menace they are to the Government, and how well users can RP. As such, the staff will be looking at character history and RP sample. Please note RPs done in the cbox DO NOT COUNT.

Here’s how it works. A score from 0-10 would be given for how much of a menace the character is to the Government. A score of 0 incurs a bounty of $0, while a score of 10 incurs a bounty of $30,000. Menace towards the Government is judged in the character’s history. Then, the RP sample would be judged, and depending on how good, thorough and descriptive it is, bonus bounty would be rewarded up to 100% of the bounty incurred from menace towards the Government. A score of 0 grants 0% bonus, a score of 10 grants 100% of the bonus.

A list on how the bounty incurred based on menace towards the Government are as follows:

0-2 – Minimal or no threat to the Government. Petty crimes involved include theft, piracy, murder/manslaughter of up to a small group of civilians, murder of a Government official, arson, vandalising a building. Basically the Government doesn’t care…much.

3-5 – Moderate threat to the Government. Crimes include multiple thefts, destruction of an entire village, destruction of a city building, multiple killings of Government officials. Damage done would typically take years to recover. The Government is putting these people on the watchlist.

6-8 – Very threatening towards the Government. Crime ranges from mass killings, destruction of an important Government facility, multiple village destructions, destroying skyscrapers, and notorious hitmen killing a huge number of Government officials, or murder of at least one very important and powerful figure. Basically the damage done would take decades to recover. The Government would be plastering posters everywhere around the world for these people.

9-10 – Extremely dangerous and landed themselves in the most wanted list. Crimes encompassed widespread killings across cities, destruction of at least half a city or murdering multiple higher ups of the Government. Usually the damage done were far beyond recovery, would cost billions and take centuries to rebuild. The Government would be focused almost entirely in eliminating these sort of threats and making sure they will never ever walk out of their hideouts feeling safe.

    Dragon bounties

If the character is purely of dragon species, they are immediately sought after by the Government for their scales, blood, pelts, bones etc. for their uses. As such, they gain an extra bonus of $20,000 to their bounties for adults. Hatchlings gain an extra $45,000 instead as they can be tamed and endlessly harvested for their scales and blood. Note, dragons are not protected by any guild and can be openly challenged. However, they may request another dragon to fight alongside them. Hybrids that are only part dragon as their species are NOT counted.

    Bounties incurred in topics

These are bounties added to characters based on their destruction on Government properties, killings of civilians or officials and just generally how dangerous they had become. Taking part in missions against the Government would increase bounties based on the reward (subjected to mission maker), or starting topics that involve destroying Government stuff. A staff may review the topic if finished and increase the bounties in their discretion. There is no fixed bounty on destroying, say a Government facility, as it is subjected to the current bounties of the characters involved. Please do not ask how added bounties are calculated.

    Bounties within guild

Being part of guilds can further increase bounties of characters, based on how notorious is the guild and their possessed rank. Completing missions can increase the notorious nature of the guilds of the characters involved. Guilds can also increase notoriety by challenging higher guilds in a fight where both sides decide on how many combatants will participate, up to 4 members per team.

Notoriety of each guild is divide across a bar of 100%. The bonus bounty to the characters of the guild is based on the % of notoriety of their guild, and their starting bounties only. Maximum is 100% of the starting bounty. Currently, the guilds and their respective notoriety (therefore bonus bounty) are:

    Draconia – 50%

    Theta – 20%

    Dragon Storm – 0%

    Shadow Raiders – 30%

Furthermore, another flat amount is added towards the characters of that guild based on their ranks, up to $10,000 for leaders and minimum $2,000 for ordinary members. It is up to the guild leaders to decide how they distribute these flat bonuses based on their ranking systems.

Why is One's bounty so high? The max bounty level is 10 which would give One 30,000 + an extra 3000 thanks to his guild's notoriety if I'm not mistaken. And if I remember correctly you said his was 40,000 something. If this is the case then why is it higher than it should be? Does he get bonus bounty because he is sought after by Oak Hollow or am I missing something?

You forgot the bonus to starting bounty based on RP experience. Maximum starting bounty is $60,000, not $30,000

This sounds like a great idea. And seeing as it is pretty roleplay/mission/money based, I would assume that mission moderators would be in charge of raising and keeping track of bounty, right?

Also, I'm pretty sure Theta's bounty is lower than Shadow Raiders, cuz I was told recently that Shadow Raiders is technically a Dark Guild, while Theta is neutral Razz

Isn't Dragon Storm wanted all across The Beyond? Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't Dragon Storm a little low? Especially with all the roleplays of "not revealing our identities because we're in DS"? Just because we're neutral does not mean we aren't very bounty... Ful. Yeah that word.

On another note, Ariko's bounty is 0. He earns money from talk shows and crap and he's never committed any... Serious crimes..... Yeah.

This thing is still a draft and I pulled random numbers. Ariko is probably sitting on $2000 if found to be in DS for being a member. I realised DS isnt known except by name, so their notoriety should be 0%?

They're famous through name, and they know how many members are part of it. But that's pretty much all they know.
